"Econavipesca of the Pacific: Ecosystem for sustainable fishing navigation in the municipality of Guapi, Cauca" is a project led by the National University of Colombia, from the Medellin and Palmira headquarters, together with the University of Cauca, in alliance with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the Universities of Lund and KTH of Sweden. This two-year process seeks to generate, from the dialogue of knowledge between academia and the communities, a boat propelled by renewable and hybrid energies that is articulated to a sustainable artisanal fishing model in the municipality of Guapi. Other results are also expected regarding the collective creation of strategies that strengthen the dialogue and circulation of knowledge on artisanal fishing in the territory.

In 2021, the project "Econavipesca of the Pacific: Ecosystem for sustainable fishing navigation in the municipality of Guapi, Cauca" was launched as an initiative led by the National University of Colombia, from the Medellin and Palmira headquarters, together with the University of Cauca, and the participation of the fishing associations Aservipesca, Renacer Guapireño, and Asociación Nueva Bellavista, in alliance with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the Universities of Lund and KTH of Sweden.

Durante el año 2021 se dio inicio al proyecto “Econavipesca del Pacífico: ecosistema para la navegación pesquera sustentable en el municipio de Guapi, Cauca” una iniciativa liderada por la Universidad Nacional de Colombia sedes Medellín y Palmira, junto con la Universidad del Cauca, la participación de las asociaciones pesqueras Aservipesca, Renacer Guapireño y Asociación Nueva Bellavista, en alianza con la Agencia Sueca de Cooperación para el Desarrollo Internacional (ASDI) y las universidades Lund y KTH de Suecia.

Entre el 7 y el 12 de noviembre de 2021 un equipo de trabajo conformado por profesores investigadores y profesionales de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia sedes Palmira y Medellín, y de la Universidad del Cauca visitó el municipio de Guapi, Cauca para continuar con el desarrollo de dos proyectos que se llevan a cabo en este territorio alrededor de la sustentabilidad de la pesca artesanal.
Leer másLocated on the Pacific coast of Cauca, the municipality of Guapi is a territory where the Afro population predominates (84%), but it is also inhabited by indigenous and mestizo populations. With an area of 2,688 km², an elevation above sea level of 5m, and an average temperature of 29° C, Guapi is conceived as a territory where agriculture, mining, handicrafts, and particularly fishing, are the main economic activities of its population, which amounts to approximately 30,759 inhabitants.
