Reactive Flows at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Sede Medellín

Reactive flows (FRUN) is associated to the resarch group Bioprocesos y Flujos Reactivos at Facultad de Minas, Universidad Nacional de Colombia-Sede Medellín. In FRUN we study chemical processes occurring in flows from a computational and experimental point of view and apply engineering concepts to improve the performance of chemical equipment, such as reactors and separators. While in FRUN simulations are very important, we also conduct laser-diagnostic analysis to gain further insight of the composition of reactive flows. Given the importance of reactive flows in fuel processing and use, some of our projects are directly related to hydrocarbons. The main areas of study at FRUN are:

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics of Chemical processes
  • Fuels modeling and characterization
  • Laser diagnostics
  • Process simulation
