We have the great pleasure to welcome all participants to the 3rd Latin American Symposium on Water Waves ("LatWaves 2018"). This Symposium, being held during November 21-23, 2018 at Medellin, Colombia will be attended by over 140 participants coming from Colombia, USA, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia, Australia, Estonia, England, Ireland, Belgium, España, Israel, Uruguay and New Zealand. 9 Keynote Speakers, 19 poster presentations and over 25 Plenary Speakers will introduce and discuss developments in modelling, analysis and observations on water waves.
The host institution will be the National University of Colombia, which is the biggest university in the country with presence in 9 cities and in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Medellin has become a gate to the sea in the middle to the mountains by holding the OCEANICOS research group one of the pioneers in the studying of ocean waves in the country. LatWaves 2018 is co-organized by Universidad de Medellin, University of Melbourne, Universidad EAFIT, CICESE and National University of Colombia.

The conference will be preceded by "Colombia 2018: International Conference on Marine Science. Towards a sustainable ocean", which brings together researchers, practitioners, and educators to exchange and share their experiences in answering fundamental environmental and socio-economical questions related to marine ecosystems in Latin America.
